Gdansk mayor condemns attacks on Man Utd fans ahead of Europa League final

A group of Manchester United fans were attacked on Tuesday night ahead of the Europa League final.


Videos had surfaced on social media showing fans heading to a restaurant in the city's main square, although it was reported that the incident was not between United and Villarreal fans.


United had confirmed that they are assisting the victims of the attack, and three people had reportedly received minor injuries.

The club said in a statement on Wednesday: Team members assisted a large number of United fans in Gdansk last night and today after an incident in which some of our supporters attacked outside a bar in the city.

A total of nine thousands five hundreds spectators will attend the match on Wednesday ,including Two Thousands each for the finalists. Most United fans should arrive in town on the day of the match.

he mayor of Gdansk, Aleksandra Dulkiewicz, has condemned the attack on a Twitter post.

He said: Yesterday bandits were attacked by fans of teams that reached the Europa League finals. In Gdansk, an open and united city, there is no place for violence.
